Greenport Community Center now open

Arthur Cusano is reporting in the Register Star the town of Greenport celebrated the opening of its new community center and police station Mon., June 23, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new facility at 500 Town Hall Drive includes a senior center and a county-run senior nutrition center. It will also be used by the town’s Historical Society and Garden Club. The building houses a new police station on the lower level, and it will be used as an official polling place during elections. The center is located directly across the street from Town Hall. The building was previously used as a dance studio and private apartment. The total cost of the conversion project was more than a half million dollars. Read the full story in the Register Star.
