Only two candidates of four invited to NY19 Congressional debate same night of presidential event
Oct 07, 2020 1:25 pm
WMHT will host a live debate between only two of the candidates running for the 19th Congressional District seat at 8 p.m. Oct. 15. Candidates Steven Greenfield and Victoria Alexander are not invited to the event. Rep. Antonio Delgado, the incumbent Democrat, and Republican challenger Kyle Van De Water, will be the only candidates at this event. Alexander is running on the Libertarian Party line, and Greenfield is running with the Green Party. Ola Hawatmeh, who lost the Republican primary election, seems to also be running a stealth write-in campaign for this election. The debate, from the WMHT studios in Troy, will also be broadcast on WAMC radio with Dan Clark, host of the statewide public affairs program New York NOW on PBS, as moderator. Ed McKinley from the Times Union and Allison Dunne from WAMC will ask questions of two of the four candidates on the ballot. The debate is the same day as the second presidential debate, so it should not have as many viewers and listeners as if it was held on another day.
