Cuomo sued just before Adult Survivors Act expires
Spectrum News reports that several celebrities and the former governor of New York faced lawsuits filed last week just before the Adult Survivors Act expired on Nov. 24. Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is the most high-profile politician facing a suit as former staffer Brittany Commisso claims Cuomo retaliated against her after she refused to perform sexual acts. Commisso said, "It disgusts me that Andrew Cuomo is even considering running for public office in the wake of [Eric Adams'] alleged sexual harassment when he himself will not accept responsibility or even acknowledge his sexual harassment of me, aside from numerous other victims, while the governor of our state." Cuomo's camp noted that charges initially filed against him in the Commisso case were later dropped due to a lack of evidence and Cuomo's attorney, Rita Glavin, said, “Ms. Commisso's claims are provably false, which is why the Albany District Attorney dismissed the case two years ago after a thorough investigation. Ms. Commisso's transparent attempt at a cash grab will fail. We look forward to seeing her in court." Commisso was one of 11 women who publicly announced accusations of sexual harassment against the then-governor in 2021. Sean "Diddy" Combs, Jamie Foxx, Axl Rose, Russell Brand, Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine, and others were sued for sexual assault ahead of the deadline.
