Marist releases study of where Hudson Valley residents work

Dec 11, 2019 2:30 pm
The Daily Freeman is reporting the findings of a new report from the Marist Bureau for Economic Research at Marist College, which found that more than 43 percent of working residents of the Hudson Valley are employed in New York City. The study looked at county-level detail for Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties between the years 2015 and 2017. Marist found that Ulster County residents are most dependent on intra-regional employment at 74.1 percent, while Westchester County was the least dependent, with just under 49 percent working in the Hudson Valley. The largest demographic of those holding more than one job was 30 to 55 years old. And the number of people between the ages of 55 and 69 in the workforce increased by almost 11,000 between 2015 and 2017, while the number of workers aged 30 to 54 declined by just under 13,000. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
