Matthew Hamilton reports in the Albany Times Union that New York's new Drinking Water Quality Council holds it first meeting Oct. 2. The group will consider setting maximum contaminant levels for perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA, and other chemicals that have contaminated water in towns such as Hoosick Falls and Newburgh. Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he wants the council to recommend maximum contaminant levels for PFOA. The first meeting is on Long Island, but a capitol region meeting is promised soon, according to Cuomo.
