Cairo deputy returns to force after resigning and suspension

Dec 14, 2016 12:05 am

Andrea Macko reports in The Greenville Pioneer Daniel Braden of Cairo is back on the job, working for the Cairo Police Department. When Braden was arrested in June for altering a police report he resigned from the force. He eventually pleaded guilty to a charge of misdemeanor official misconduct by a public servant, and as part of his plea agreement with Greene County District Attorney Joseph Stanzione, Braden agreed to resign as a deputy. At the time Stanzione was quoted, saying Braden, "acknowledged his wrong-doing, entered a plea to a criminal offense, and resigned as a deputy. Justice was served." Stanzione also said that prohibiting Braden from working again as a police officer would "not be enforceable." On December 4, Braden returned to duty at the Cairo Police Department. Cairo Town Supervisor Daniel Benoit told the paper that Braden had "...served a 30-day suspension." Read the full story in the Greenville Pioneer.
