Ryan Anglim is reporting in The Daily Mail members of Civil Services Employees Association Local 7000 conducted a brief informational picketing session around the Greene County Office Building in Catskill, Wed., Mar. 25. The shouting protesters served as a reminder that the union’s contract expired at the end of 2012, and that negotiations with the county remain unresolved. Chris VanKuren, a senior caseworker for the Greene County Social Services Department, said the union rejected yet another offer from the county this month. The proposal entailed no raise for 2013 and 2014, a non-retroactive, two percent raise for 2015, a 2.5 percent raise for 2016 and a $750 stipend to compensate for the two years with no raise. VanKuren called the increases insufficient. The union is attempting to stabilize an agreement on health care rates for its members, as well.
