Hop-O-Nose gets HUD funds for building fixes

Jim Planck is reporting in The Daily Mail the Catskill Housing Authority has been awarded $114,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The agency operates the 80-unit affordable housing residence at Hop-O-Nose, in Catskill. U.S. senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced the funding as part of an eight-county award to housing authorities in the Capital District region. The funding comes from HUD’s Capital Fund Program for addressing infrastructure and maintenance needs. Housing Authority Executive Director Nita Blauberg said Tue., Feb. 17, agency was hoping to replace windows this year, but the award will not to cover the total cost. As a result, Blauberg said, there are as yet no specific plans for how the money will be spent. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
