'Hidden Valley' donated to Scenic Hudson

Aug 09, 2013 8:01 am
Kyle Adams is reporting in The Daily Mail Karl and Vera Zacek (ZAH-chek) of New Baltimore have donated 124 acres of land to Scenic Hudson as a conservation easement in the organization’s Saving the Land that Matters Most campaign. The property is known locally as Hidden Valley, and contains rolling fields, forest, ravines and shoreline along Sickles Creek. The easement limits future construction on the land to two new homes, while allowing a wide range of agricultural uses. It will remain on the town’s tax rolls. The land affords views of the Catskills from Route 61. It is also important farmland, with portions producing feed hay for a local beef herd and other areas used for grazing.
