[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="100" caption="Alexander "Sandy" Mathes, Jr."][/caption]The battle over a $175,000 bonus awarded to Greene County Industrial Development Agency’s executive director, former county legislator Alexander "Sandy" Mathes, Jr., two years ago seems to be heading toward a resolution, new agreement between the agency and legislature, and some concerns form the state. The Daily Mail reports today that an agreement between the Greene IDA’s board of directors and the Greene County Legislature may soon be reached to clarify the executive director’s job duties, provide detailed compensation criteria, and cap annual bonuses. The story goes on to note how a legislative task force was established this past September to negotiate the compensation parameters. The task force consisted of Legislators William Lawrence, R-Cairo (who will serve as one of many occasional host of the WGXC Morning and Afternoon Magazine shows when we go on the air next month), Joseph Izzo, R-Catskill, and Larry Gardner, D-Hunter. The Greene IDA’s current bonus awards include “project management,” which has a criteria of only five words (“business park permitting infrastructure projects”) and carries “$0-$25,000” in compensation. The 2008 bonus was among the top compensation packages for public authorities throughout the state, the state Authorities Budget Office found. County lawmakers have vowed action to change the bonus method. For the full story, click here.
