Nixon, and now maybe Cuomo, on legalizing marijuana
Apr 13, 2018 11:55 am
Jimmy Vielkind reports at Politico that after a week of Cynthia Nixon championing legalization of recreational marijuana in New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo seems to be coming around to her point of view. Last year Cuomo was talking about marijuana being a “gateway drug” and not wanting it legal in New York. But on April 12 he said, "It’s not really 'legalize or not.' It’s, 'do you not legalize when it is legal 10 miles from both sides of your border.... Frankly I want to turn the conversation to that question, because I think it arrives at a different conclusion.” For the past few weeks Nixon, who is running against Cuomo in the Democratic primary, has called for legalization.
