Sarah Trafton reports for Columbia-Greene Media that the proposal from the Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties for a $25 million low-income housing complex for adults with special needs on an 18-acre site on West Main Street near the Creekside Restaurant is not going anywhere, a Catskill official told the newspaper July 24. Catskill planning board member Gil Bagnell said there are two issues. “They have not paid money they owed for the engineering study,” he said. Secondly, there is a moratorium on new waterfront construction. “Until the comprehensive plan is done, we don’t have a basis [for the decision],” Bagnell said. The group wants to build Catskill Gardens, a three-story, 90-unit apartment complex with one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments plus office space, community space, a gymnasium, and a computer room. Village President Vincent Seeley said they have suspended the application.
