New York hiring correction officers
Nov 10, 2014 11:40 am
Joseph Spector in Politics on the Hudson reports that New York is hiring correction officers, with a civil service exam Jan. 10 according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. “As DOCCS continues to lose good, hard working, men and women to retirement, it is vitally important to replenish well trained Correction Officers,” Commissioner Anthony Annucci said in a statement. Currently, the state has about 54,000 prisoners, the lowest level in two decades after Gov. Andrew Cuomo shut down nine prisons recently. Candidates interested in taking the exam must complete and submit an application with a non-refundable $35 fee postmarked by Nov. 25; Candidates may also apply at http://www.cs.ny.gov/exams.
