Michael Ryan is reporting in the Windham Journal Republican Party candidate for Prattsville town supervisor, Michelle Blain, will reportedly decline the post if elected. Blain is challenging incumbent Kory O'Hara, a Democrat. Blain has not formally announced her intentions; however, Carol Engelmann, the GOP deputy commissioner at the Greene County Board of Elections reported that Blain would not serve. Engelmann said Blain contacted the Board of Elections on Sept. 30, about taking her name off the ballot. She said she was having second thoughts about running. Blain has also spoken with Michele Brainard, chair of the Prattsville Democrats and a town employee. Brainard said, “She asked me to please spread the word. She said she wanted to take her name off the ballot but couldn’t, and that even if she is elected she wouldn’t accept the job.” If Blain wins and resigns, the town board would choose her replacement in January, when the position would officially be vacant. That person would serve one year of a two-year term. Read the full story in the Windham Journal.
