Support your local community radio station and listen to the sounds of our resident frogs – all in one, fun evening! This family-friendly program will include a brief, indoor presentation on frogs and salamanders by Dr. Richard Wyman and an evening walk to the ponds at the Siuslaw Model Forest to hear the dulcet tones of spring peepers and other evening sounds. This program will be recorded for broadcast on WGXC!

Richard L. Wyman, Edmund Niles Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station Research Associate, will give a brief, indoor presentation on frogs and salamanders for WGXC this Friday May 21 at the Agroforestry Center in Acra. Wyman will then lead an evening walk to the ponds at the Siuslaw Model Forest (across Route 23) to hear the dulcet tones of spring peepers and other evening sounds. This program will be recorded for broadcast on WGXC Online Radio and archived at the WGXC website, www.wgxc.org. Wyman has a paper studying salamander population declines in the Edmund Niles Huyck Preserve, in Rensselaerville. Wyman is also an expert in the sound of salamanders. He reports they make sound by the breaking of air bubbles. Come out and support community radio with this sound walk Friday night in Greene County. $5 per person, $10 per family.
