Paul Kirby is reporting for the Daily Freeman U.S. Rep. Antonio Delgado said February 19, the House should collect evidence regarding conduct by U.S. Attorney General William Barr that appeared to benefit President Donald Trump. “I think, given the role of Congress, and given that we have oversight responsibilities and ... that part of our job is to collect facts and evidence and get to a place where you can make an informed decision that is not based on just information we are gleaning from news accounts, I think we have a responsibility, before we say one way or the other, that we take those appropriate steps,” the Rhinebeck Democrat, said during an hourlong interview at the Daily Freeman office in Kingston. However, Delgado declined to comment on whether he thinks Barr should resign until after an investigation is complete. In a wide-ranging conversation Delgado also discussed climate change, immigration, his support for HR8, Universal background check and the legalization and regulation of marijuana. Delgado is seeking his second, two-year term. He is, so far, being challenged by Republicans Ola Hawatmeh and Kyle Van De Water, as well as Green Party candidate Steve Greenfield.
