[caption width="229" align="alignright"] Don Weeks, from WGY.[/caption]• The Daily Freeman reports WGY (810-AM and 103.1-FM) announced March 11 that Don Weeks, the 30-year host of a popular morning talk show on the Albany radio station WGY, died at age 76. He began at WGY in December 1980, and was known as “Uncle Don.” Weeks won a Marconi Award in 2005 and was inducted into the New York State Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame in 2009.
• The Rip Van Winkle Amateur Radio Society's next meeting is at 7 p.m. March 16 at the Churchtown Firehouse, 2219 County Route 27, Hudson. They will be having an auction of radio equipment.
• The WGXC Community Programming Advisory Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. March 17, at the WGXC Hudson studio, 704 Columbia St., floor 2, in Hudson. The committee reviews incoming program applications, conducts programming evaluations, and provides feedback about the community program schedule. Meetings are held monthly.
