Chatham board approves land gift to state police

Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Chatham Town Board last week approved the transfer of approximately three acres of town land to the New York State Police for the construction of a new barracks. The building will be located next to the Chatham Town Hall on Route 295. The board was asked by the state police in 2018 to donate the land so their New Lebanon barracks could be moved. At the Thursday, September 19 town meeting State Police Captain Harold Litardo said the new location is expected to be completed in 2022, and it will house 25 to 30 officers. The structure will be one-story, slab-on-grade and approximately 5,000 square in size. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
