Comcast/Time Warner decision delayed at PSC

Freeman Klopott at Bloomberg reports that the New York Public Service Commission is delaying a decision on the proposed $45.2 billion merger of Comcast and Time Warner Cable, and will vote Nov. 13 rather than Oct. 2. The merger, which will affect 2.2 million cable customers, has resulted in almost 3,000 public comments, one of the most active proceedings in the commission’s history, according to PSC spokeman James Denn. The commission’s staff has recommended the acquisition be approved only Comcast keep jobs in the New York, offers faster broadband here, improves customer service, and expands in rural areas with easier enrollment standards for a program that offers cheap, high-speed Internet service to poor families.
