The Hudson Area Library in partnership with Carol Rusoff, independent teaching artist, is offering “From the Page to the Stage” a hands-on, engaging theatre program for youth aged 13 and above from Oct. – Dec. 2016, Mondays and Tuesdays for 10 weeks from 3:45 – 5:45pm culminating in a performance on Dec. 13th for the entire community. Participants will explore literary works and will choose selections for adaptation. Since this program builds to a final performance we ask that all teens enrolling make a commitment to the entire process.

The process and goal of theatre making creates a viable sense of ensemble among participants as it is a collaborative art form. As the ensemble comes together in a safe and non-competitive environment, we will nurture the growth of skills and refinement of techniques. Source materials from the library collection will be explored and adapted as performance pieces. The rehearsal process will stretch the participants’ abilities as they divide the tasks at hand among themselves and together produce works of theatrical art. This program is made possible in part with public funds from the Rheinstrom Hill Community Foundation. It is free and open to all teens 13+. To register or for more information please call 518-828-1792 x101, email brenda.shufelt@hudsonarealibrary.org, or stop by the front desk for a registration form.
