Jim Planck is reporting in The Daily Mail the Catskill Town Board has voted upgrade its ambulance department to paramedic level. The decision was made Wed., June 18, following a discussion with Aidan O'Connor and Ron Rouse of Greene County Emergency Medical System. The town currently contracts with Greene County EMS for paramedic services. Rouse requested the board delay the decision for six months, to allow for the completion of cost estimates and until the county ambulance task force report is released. The total first year costs for the equipment and medical upgrade were estimated at a little more than $50,000. To transition one emergency medical technician to the paramedic level would cost the town roughly $43,000. The board vote to upgrade was unanimous. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
