Prattsville passes budget with small tax increase

Michael Ryan in The Windham Journal reports that Prattsville passed a 2016 budget, $665,861 in spending for the general and highway funds and $94,370 for the fire district. Overall, Prattsville taxes will rise .06, under the state-mandated two-percent tax cap and smaller than last year’s .84 percent increase. Council members did not get pay raises, but the town supervisor’s pay goes up from $8,500 to $8,750. The town meeting also reported that the New York City Department of Environmental Protection bought 123 acrea next to the highway department in the vicinity of Conine Road.
