The coverage map for WOOC-LP in Troy.[/caption]• The Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy now has a construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission for WOOC-LP (105.3-FM), a low-power station. The station is currently raising money to get on the air, and hosts a "Low Power to the People" workshop with Christina Dunbar-Hester and Pete Tridish May 3 in Troy. Dunbar-Hester is the author of "Low Power to the People" and Pete Tridish is the pseudonym for a radio activist with the Prometheus Radio Project in Philadelphia.
• Other stations with applications accepted for low-power FM stations are also working to get on the air. In Palenville, the Maetreum of Cybele, a pagan non-profit group, hopes to get WLPP-LP (102.9-FM) up and running. But their first effort, an an Indiegogo fundraising campaign, closed last March with just seven funders donating $1,210 of their $6,000 goal. The group held their first community organizational meeting last week on March 15.
• In Albany, the Grand Street Community Arts group's station will be called WCAA-LP (107.1 FM), and they are hosting organizational meetings every other week, the next Mon., March 23.
