William J. Kemble, reports in The Daily Freeman that a company called Possible Productions will start filming in Woodstock for the pilot of a planned Showtime TV series called “Happyish” in December. Paul Eskenazi, the project’s assistant location manager, said if the series is picked up, “we would be based out of Manhattan and Brooklyn filming, [but] we would have every intention on coming to Woodstock for a couple days every episode or every other episode to get some exterior shots.” Part of the pilot will be shot in the Byrdcliffe Art Colony and the show’s producers are looking for an additional location in the area, and may shoot the “Welcome to Woodstock” sign on state Route 212, Taco Juan’s, the Golden Notebook and the Woodstock Library. Philip Seymour Hoffman, before his suicide earlier this year, was to play the lead, which has now gone to Steve Coogan, according to Variety. Read the full story in The Daily Freeman.
