Rockland declares measles state of emergency

NBC-4 New York is reporting Rockland County officials March 26, declared a countywide State of Emergency relating to the ongoing measles outbreak in that county. Beginning at the stroke of midnight, March 27, anyone under the age of 18 and unvaccinated against the measles will be barred from public places. The policy will remain in effect until the declaration expires in 30 days. The county is in the 26th week of a measles outbreak. As of this week, there are 153 confirmed reported cases of measles in the county. The outbreak is not limited to one community, but it is affecting residents of Spring Valley, New Square and Monsey.
