Nathan Mayberg reports in the Register Star the Columbia County Board of Supervisors concluded a round of budget talks Tues., Oct. 9, reviewing departmental requests, which could increase the county’s upcoming budget. Estimated spending for the current year totals more than $148 million. Among the projects under consideration: A new cell tower project in Livingston, along with new radio equipment for fire departments, a new bridge deck in Stottville and the acquisition of property near the county airport. Those three projects alone would cost $5 million. County revenue has increased, as well. The income from sales tax is about $1 million ahead of projections this year, Mayberg writes.
