Greene Co. anticipating Sandy's arrival

Greene County Department of Emergency Services issued this statement, Fri., Oct. 27:
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo declared a state of emergency throughout the state, Friday, in anticipation of the storm's arrival.
Greene County residents should prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Sandy. Residents are encouraged to complete a household inventory and be prepared to be self-sufficient for a 72-96 hour period. Residents should stock up on food items and stock a home emergency kit with items to include:
Batteries, flashlights, candles, matches, battery powered radio, water, non-perishable food items and medications.
Power companies are also advising that residents should prepare for the possibility of power outages; residents are also encouraged to stock up on ice.
Greene County Emergency Services is monitoring all activity related to Hurricane Sandy. We are maintaining constant communication with the NYS Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service. With the anticipation of a Monday afternoon arrival, plans are in place to fully activate the Emergency Operations Center on Monday morning, subject to change with the weather conditions.
