Jimmy Vielkind reports at Capitol Confidential the amount of overtime clocked by state employees is rising. The $529 million in overtime paid in 2012 was a five-year high, according to a report issued Tues., Apr. 30, by New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. DiNapoli wrote in the report the increase is more than 11 percent higher than figures from 2007. DiNapoli's office found seven agencies with more than 25 percent of employees working overtime to meet their responsibilities. Significant increases were found in the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, and the Offices for People with Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health.
