Ariél Zangla is reporting for the Daily Freeman four members of the Kingston Common Council have asked the state Attorney General's Office to investigate "potentially inappropriate and perhaps even illegal behavior" by Mayor Steve Noble and Julie Noble, his wife. While calling for the investigation, the lawmakers did not disclose the nature of the alleged improper behavior that led them to call for an inquiry. Alderperson Jeffrey Ventura Morell said that he, Common Council president Andrea Shaun, Majority Leader Reynolds Scott-Childress, and 3rd Ward Alderperson Rita Worthington, all Democrats, were advised by a lawyer from the New York Conference of Mayors not to disclose any details. He also said the four could not speak about personnel matters outside of a closed-door executive session of the council. Alderperson Michele Hirsch, an uninvolved council member said she believed the complaint is related to requests for records involving overtime worked by Julie, who is the city's environmental education and sustainability coordinator. Steve Noble, also a Democrat, said this weekend that "none of the four council members reached out to speak to me about this. I have been meeting with the council president and majority leader on a regular basis, and they gave no indication that they had such concerns. Even now, I still do not know what they are alleging."
