No term limits, for now, in Dutchess County
Aug 11, 2017 1:55 pm
Mid-Hudson News Network reports that a Dutchess County Legislature committee voted Aug. 10 to table a term limits proposal. Under the plan, which failed six-to-four, legislators, the county executive, and the county comptroller would only be allowed to serve for 12 consecutive years. Legislature Chairman Dale Borchert, a Republican, said, “The only reason to do this now is so that they can say they did this before this upcoming election.... There is no other reason to do that. This is something that should be thought about, discussed, debated, considered, talk to the public, public hearing.” Read the full story at the Mid-Hudson News Network website.
