'Pumpkin Patrol' watches for thruway mischief

The Daily Freeman reports that amateur radio operators and other volunteers join State police Troop T to conduct the 39th annual “Pumpkin Patrol” to reduced Halloween pranks on the New York State Thruway Oct. 30 and 31. Troop T patrols the Thruway, and on Halloween weekend get help from local citizen band radio clubs and amateur radio operators from 16 organizations in 20 counties in New York state along the thruway. Volunteers monitor Thruway overpasses and report any unusual activity while officers watch for speeding, drunken driving, and texting-while-driving. Read the full story in The Daily Freeman.
