Ravena officials reverse town pool decision

Melanie Lekocevic is reporting for Capital Region Independent Media after voting a short time ago to keep the Mosher Park pool closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ravena village officials changed their minds and voted June 23, to open the pool after all, as long as certain conditions are met. The village board decided to open July 6, if the Capital Region enters phase 4 of the reopening process, Mayor Bill Misuraca said. The pool would be open to residents of Ravena and Coeymans only, and guests would not be permitted at the pool during the 2020 season. Also, groups would be prohibited from using the pool. The Capital Region is expected to begin phase 4 of the state’s four-phase, gradual reopening July 1. Cuomo left the decision of whether to open public pools this summer to local officials. “There will be a reduced capacity, and we will adhere to all state and CDC guidelines,” Misuraca said. “There will be strict protocol, and it will be followed to a TEE… any nonsense, any arguments, any non-compliance will be met with a swift ban from the property.” Read the full story in The Ravena News-Herald.
