Hudson gets 11 proposals for affordable housing
Noah Eckstein reports for Columbia-Greene Media that the City of Hudson received 11 proposals to partner with the city to construct affordable housing. The entire Hudson Valley is in the midst of an affordable housing crisis, with large numbers of people moving into the area and raising rental rates and housing prices. And while housing spaces are being used for other purposes, little affordable housing has been built in the area for years. “Too many of our residents are struggling with housing in Hudson,” says Mayor Kamal Johnson. Now Common Council President Thomas DePietro, Housing Justice Director Michelle Tullo, Mayor Kamal Johnson, Commissioner of Public Works Peter Bujanow, Alderperson Art Frick and Mayoral Aide Michael Hofmann will choose the best of the proposals to build affordable housing in Hudson on five possible locations later this year.
