Smith learned his craft at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC as a member of the Cathedral Apprentice program which successfully trained disadvantaged youth as stone cutters. Smith has trained dozens of local youth through his stonemasonry projects in Columbia County. – Benson is a published writer and photographer and has chosen the exhibition photos from a collection of over 1,500 images taken during a year-long collaboration with Smith.
