Sprague case could go to the grand jury

W.T. Eckert reports in The Daily Mail suspended Cairo Police Chief Christopher Sprague was back in Hunter Town Court with his attorney for a brief conference, Wed., Apr. 24. Hunter Town Judge William M. Simon said it was his understanding the case could be presented to a grand jury, but there is also a possibility the charge may be reduced and disposed of in town court with a plea. Sprague's legal counsel declined comment. The parties will appear in court again, June 5. Sprague was arrested last month on charges of tampering with evidence and filing false reports. The case was moved to Hunter Town Court and the Schoharie County District Attorney’s office was appointed special prosecutor due to conflicts of interest.
