William J. Kemble is reporting for the Daily Freeman the Rhinebeck school district is moving toward livestreaming its sporting events. District Athletic Director Steve Boucher said live transmission of Rhinebeck High School basketball games began Jan. 25, and that the games are being shown by the NFHS Network, a national broadcaster of high school sports. “There is no cost [to the district] as long as you livestream four varsity games in 60 days ... and we’ve done that already,” Boucher said. Viewers subscribe for $9.95 per month, or for $30 per sports season or $60 per year. Customers can also access the network's video archives at no additional cost. Boucher said much of the equipment needed for the district to broadcast the events already exists. “I was using an iPad to livestream the basketball games, and the resolution was great,” he said. Boucher said he has assumed the operational duties of livestreaming, but students, including those in journalism classes, will be involved "when possible." Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
