Berkshire Taconic announces second round of emergency response fund grants

The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation has announced the second round of grants from its Columbia County COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. The Sheffield, Mass.- based foundation has awarded nine new grants totaling nearly $90,000 as part of its "ongoing effort to raise and distribute new resources for nonprofit organizations serving residents disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus pandemic," according to a press release. Second round grantees include: Abode Farm, a horse-powered diversified vegetable farm in New Lebanon; Coarc, the Columbia County Chapter of the Arc New York; the early childhood program Columbia Children's Center in Greenport; Columbia-Greene Community Foundation at Columbia-Greene Community College; Friends of Hudson Youth; Kite’s Nest; the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Columbia County; ReEntry Columbia; and, Hudson's Rolling Grocer 19. To date, the fund has given almost $150,000 to 17 organizations. Approximately 40 percent of the grants have focused on low-income families, 20 percent on seniors and 9 percent each on immigrants and people with mental illness. counseling and child care.
