MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting a bill that would allow the use of medical marijuana in the state of New York to be expanded is now awaiting Gov. Andrew Cuomo's signature. The measure was approved by the state legislature before the end of the legislative session last week. At present, medical marijuana may be prescribed to treat chronic pain, but the legislation would allow its use for episodic pain. The bill was sponsored by Republican state Sen. George Amedore. “Someone who may have to going through, maybe a torn rotator cuff or a certain type of medical condition, now a doctor could allow the use of medical marijuana to treat that type of pain as an alternative to an opiate that they would typically go and prescribe,” Amedore said.
