Cuomo lists issues he would like legislature to solve

May 29, 2019 12:37 am
David Lombardo reports in the Albany Times Union that Gov. Andrew Cuomo, on a media tour May 28, announced ten proposals he'd like to accomplish before the state legislative session ends June 19. But he did not sound hopeful they would pass in time. The legalization of marijuana, and allowing driver's licenses for undocumented immigrants, are on Cuomo's to-do list. Cuomo said he would also focus on the legalization of paid surrogacy contracts, creating a lower threshold for workplace sexual harassment, ending the statute of limitations for second and third-degree rape, and several New York City rent issues. Cuomo does not have any rallies or television advertisements planned, so there is no tangible way to tell how hard the governor is working to get these issued passed in the legislature. Cuomo also ruled out any ethics reform being adopted in Albany again this year. Read the full story in the Albany Times Union.
