Saugerties officials looking to regulate short-term housing

Jun 21, 2021 4:32 pm

William J. Kemble reports in the Daily Freeman that residents of Saugerties are the latest complaining to local officials about the local housing market. There are few affordable rentals available, and short-term rentals and residents moving out of New York City into the Hudson Valley are driving home prices much higher. In Saugerties, some residents want short-term rentals regulated more, for different reasons. Steve Gentile compained about a Platte Clove Terrace residence. “The noise that comes from there is not just weekends,” he said. “It’s during the week.” Saugerties officials are looking at what other towns have done to address similar problems. Supervisor Fred Costello said, “In our proposed legislation we’re going to do our best to try to accommodate some noise concerns. That’s something that’s not part of the Woodstock law because they rely on (a separate law) regarding noise.” Read more about this story in the Daily Freeman.
