The Assembly has now passed legislation to treat limited liability corporations like corporations under campaign finance rules. Currently a loophole allows LLCs to be treated as individuals. This allows the funneling of unlimited amounts of cash to political campaigns. The discussion will center around efforts to change the state’s campaign finance laws with Common Cause Executive Director Susan Lerner, and state Senator Daniel Squadron (D-Brooklyn) who is pushing for the loophole legislation to get to the floor of the state Senate.
