New York preparing healthcare enrollment

Claire Hughes reports in the Albany Times Union that while the Trump administration is doing everything it can to slow enrollment through the Affordable Care Act, state officials are doing the opposite. “Letting people know about coverage through the Marketplace and helping them enroll in coverage is not only the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do because it brings healthier people into the insurance market” said Donna Frescatore, executive director of NY State of Health. “We’re as committed as ever to ensuring that consumers have enrollment assistance in communities throughout the state.” A dozen insurance companies are offering plans to individuals through NY State of Health for 2018, and 15 will offer the Essential Plan, an option with monthly premiums of $20 or less for New Yorkers with incomes just above the eligibility level for Medicaid.
