Melanie Lekocevic writes in The Daily Mail river ferry service between Columbia and Greene counties will be re-established this summer. After decades without the availability of direct transport across the Hudson, Captain Guy Falkenheimer recently told the Athens Village Board the Hudson-Athens ferry is expected to begin full operations in June. The “Little Spirit,” an 18-passenger, 33-foot twin engine vessel, will run from Riverfront Park in Athens to Hudson and back every Friday and Saturday, through the end of August, and perhaps into the fall.
