Greenville wants to add a skateboard park

Melanie Lekocevic from Capital Region Independent Media reports in the Greenville Pioneer that the Greenville Town Council wants to add a skateboard and bike park for young people. "We are looking at the possibility of setting up a skateboard/bike park at the tennis court behind the library, which the town owns," Town Supervisor Paul Macko said. The $280-to-$350 annual insurance fee is the biggest cost of the project, as the the ramps and other equipment were donated by the town of Westerlo, which came from part of an Eagle Scout project in 2008. "He (the scout) is long gone out of the community. The church has the ramps and things for a skateboard park, and they donated all the fiberglass ramps and all the equipment for this," Macko said. "It was purchased from a company in Glens Falls for $5,450 back in 2008 and it is all in really good shape. The kids are really enthused about going forward with this." Macko did not say when the skateboard/bike park would open. Read more about this story in the Greenville Pioneer.
