Nov 25, 2019 12:45 pm
Lorna Cherot Littleway is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Hillsdale Town Board November 12, unanimously approved a $1.9 million spending plan for 2020. In an email to the paper, Supervisor Peter Cipkowski said town revenues and spending will be remain roughly the same as during the last two years. The Highway Department accounts for 68 percent of the town's total budget. In his county report, Cipkowski noted that Columbia County led all counties in the state in the percentage of voters who chose to vote early, but he further noted a full reporting of the numbers was not yet available, calling the delay “untenable.” In speaking about the election, Cipkowski bemoaned the write-in effort that was mounted in opposition to his reelection as supervisor. He said the campaign was “very divisive” and spread “misinformation.” In October, Cipkowski announced that his spouse would be moving to Los Angeles in January 2020 for new employment, and that he, too, would be relocating but did not provide details. During the November 12 meeting Cipkowski said he intended to resign sometime in 2020, before heading west. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
