Hudson close to hiring ADA architects
May 19, 2020 3:45 pm
Abby Hoover is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Hudson Common Council at its May 11 informal meeting, discussed its plans to hire an Americans with Disabilities Act architect. Two resolutions were introduced: the first to retain Dirtworks Landscape Architecture of New York City as ADA architect; and the second to allocate an initial $6,000 for project costs. The mayor’s office reviewed the seven proposals submitted in response to a March RFP and then identified Dirtworks as the most qualified. “ADA accessibility is an important project,” said Public Works Commissioner Peter Bujanow, who managed the RFP. “Dirtworks brings a nuanced understanding of Hudson’s needs and challenges while also proposing cost-efficient solutions.” The agreement specifies the firm will provide assistance to identify and report to the department all barriers to access along the street level pedestrian walkways to and between the programs, services and activities in the center of Hudson. The selected ADA architect will first provide a preliminary assessment of the city’s accessibility. The Common Council will vote on both resolutions May 19 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be live streamed at wgxc.org, and on the city’s YouTube channel, and for the very first time, the public will be able to join the council’s Zoom call. Information for that option will be posted prior to the meeting. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.AD
