Reconstructed Cole studio unveiled
Roger Hannigan Gilson writes in The Daily Mail a replication of the studio used by artist Thomas Cole was unveiled Sun., May 1, on the grounds of the Thomas Cole National Historic Site in Catskill. The original studio was built in 1846 and stood approximately 75 yards from the house for 125 years. It was torn down in 1973 after falling into disrepair. The studio was reconstructed on the same footprint and using the same type of materials as the original. It was built to stand repair-free for 100 years, according to Melissa Gavilanes, education director at the museum. "Thomas Cole: The Artist as Architect," is currently on exhibit in the new space through October. Lectures will be hosted in the space during the winter months. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
