Public meeting to discuss Doodletown Wildlife Management Area tonight

The Columbia Paper is reporting the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will host a public meeting December 4, to discuss the state’s Young Forest Initiative and habitat management goals at the Doodletown Wildlife Management Area in Copake. Experts from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Audubon NY, The Nature Conservancy and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry will participate in the meeting and present information about the importance of young forests for a number of declining wildlife species statewide. DEC is planning to undertake forest management techniques at Doodletown to provide suitable habitat for various species that depend on young forests.
