Kaaterskill Creek work completed under budget

William J. Kemble is reporting in the Daily Freeman work along the Kaaterskill Creek has been completed for $300,000 less than the $1.5 million estimate, according to town of Catskill officials. The work included construction of a 100-foot-long wall bank near Woodstock Ave., behind the Palenville Fire Department building. Federal funding covered 75 percent of that project, and the state picked up the rest of the cost. The town in 2012 bonded $2.1 million to pay for approximately 20 repair projects necessitated by Tropical Storm Irene, which struck in August 2011 and caused widespread damage throughout Greene County.
