MidHudson News is reporting New York Stewart International Airport lost move than 81 percent of its passenger business in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Only Allegiant Air continued service during the critical period, which lasted more than a year. American Airlines recently resumed its Philadelphia flights. However, the air cargo side of operations was much different, Stewart Business Development Director Mike Torelli told the advisory Stewart Airport Commission this week. “On both the freight and the mail that is a total of 57,223 tons for the year, which is high for Stewart Airport and also a 40 percent increase over the previous year, and those preliminary numbers for the first couple of months (of this year) continue to go up,” he said.
